THE ROBOTAXI RIDER EXPERIENCE

motional_interior.jpg

In a self-driving taxi with no steering wheel, how do we design an optimal rider experience?

IN BRIEF

Years of research projects, both generative & evaluative, helped the product team at Motional design a robotaxi that is optimized for the rider. We determined foundational needs for robotaxi riders, unpacked why people would choose robotaxi over other means of transportation, and designed features for a driverless robotaxi experience.

MY ROLE IN THESE PROJECTS

I was the Founding UX Researcher at Motional. I worked my way up to Principal User Researcher and Team Lead where I led research for the rider experience. My early work at Motional socializing UX research led to stakeholder buy-in and the subsequent growth of the UX research team.

I worked with product managers, designers, and prototypers to design the rider experience. As the team grew, I advised, managed, and mentored other user researchers. I also hired & managed contract researchers when needed.

Outside of individual projects, I created research roadmaps & a strategic vision for rider-facing research at Motional.
